Whispering Pines Bush Retreat

Whispering Pines Bush Retreat provides fully self contained lodge style accommodation for 10 to 11 guests. The accommodation consists of 5 twin share rooms (one consisting of 3 beds), however the main bedroom can be converted from a twin share into a double room on request. Each bedroom has reverse cycle air conditioning. The main bedroom also has a slow combustion wood fire which is really cosy during the cold winter months. The kitchen is fully self contained and the bathroom comprises of two showers for the convenience of guests. Linen, blankets and towels are supplied. Austar is available along with a DVD player on which guests are welcome to view their own selection of DVD’s. Whispering Pines is let to only one group, family, couple or person at a time – there’s no sharing of facilities.

Whispering Pines Bush Retreat is located approximately 65kms south of Tamworth in a delightful setting amongst the pine trees in the hills approximately 14kms east of Quirindi. The setting is ideal for people wishing to get away from it all and is particularly suitable for families and those interested in bird watching and hiking. At Whispering Pines parents can relax allowing their children to explore the outdoors without fear of strangers, busy roads or any other dangers associated with the usual commercial holiday destinations. The area is home to possums, kangaroos, wallabies and many bird species. Less than 1km away is the Old Quipolly Dam which is a designated bird sanctuary. A Bird Hide has been constructed on the edge of the dam allowing bird enthusiasts the opportunity to view the numerous species.

A hiking trail has been marked for those wishing to test their fitness levels or who just want to explore the area and get close to nature. Some fantastic vantage points can be found along this trail allowing guests to observe some spectacular views and unique rock formations.

The Terminus Hotel

Situated in the heart of Quirindi, The Terminus Hotel is fully air conditioned in the entire Hotel area. We offer cold beer on tap and cater for all drinkers including soft drinks, premium beers and a stocked wine list.

Entertainment is offered throughout the year catering for all with a diverse style of music.

There’s plenty of room with a sheltered beer garden, public bar, restaurant and lounge area where you can enjoy a coffee, hot chocolate or cool drink.

Lunch is offered with a café style menu which is available Monday to Friday 12pm-2pm and dinner Wednesday to Saturday with the world famous char grill Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm-9pm.

Our accommodation offers 14 rooms varying from single, double, twin, triple and family rooms. They are let at $20 per head per night and family rooms at $55 per night. Weekly rates available on negotiation.

The Federal Hotel offers its regular customers and visitors a range of good quality amenities. The fully stocked bar offers a range of beers, ready to drink cans and bottles and a variety of snack foods. Our dining room is open Monday to Saturday for lunch (12.00-2.00) and dinner (6.00-8.30) with a large menu and daily specials.

Accommodation is available with a range of room options including family rooms ($55.00), doubles ($40.00) and singles ($30.00), some with air conditioning, all with shared facilities. Television hire is available in some of the rooms. All room rates include a self serve continental breakfast of cereal, toast, tea and coffee. Castle Mountain Farmstay

Comfortable accommodation, home cooked meals, and a working farm experience for $45 per person. Castle Mountain is a 2000 acre sheep and cattle property situated in the North West Slopes and Plains of New South Wales. The Highest point in the district is Castle Mountain at 757 meters and is located in the centre of the property. The Mountain is surrounded by hills covered in Australian natural bush and contains many species of native birds and animals. The western side of Castle Mountain has a 70 meter high escarpment giving spectacular views over the Liverpool Plains and distant mountain ranges.

Peter and Lynda Hatfield run fine wool merino sheep and beef cattle on the property and have developed the Farmstay over the past ten years. In aiming at the budget minded backpacker market they have found that what they offer at Castle Mountain is very attractive to the Australian family seeking a country experience at an affordable price. The pole-framed stone homestead is owner- built and uses timber and stone from the property. It is powered by solar and wind. Home cooked meals are supplied and served in the homestead with the family and other guests.

Activities

Guests are welcome to become involved with the day to day farm activities of: feeding animals, milking the cow, collecting the eggs and general farm work, or going bush walking on the many trails, spotting the native birds and animals, or just chilling-out with a good book in a peaceful setting.

The main homestead has a very large common room with sunken lounge, pool table and table tennis. The house is bounded by a wide verandah for relaxing and there is basketball hoop and campfire set in the house yard.
