Comfortable accommodation, home cooked meals, and a working farm experience for $45 per person. Castle Mountain is a 2000 acre sheep and cattle property situated in the North West Slopes and Plains of New South Wales. The Highest point in the district is Castle Mountain at 757 meters and is located in the centre of the property. The Mountain is surrounded by hills covered in Australian natural bush and contains many species of native birds and animals. The western side of Castle Mountain has a 70 meter high escarpment giving spectacular views over the Liverpool Plains and distant mountain ranges.
Peter and Lynda Hatfield run fine wool merino sheep and beef cattle on the property and have developed the Farmstay over the past ten years. In aiming at the budget minded backpacker market they have found that what they offer at Castle Mountain is very attractive to the Australian family seeking a country experience at an affordable price. The pole-framed stone homestead is owner- built and uses timber and stone from the property. It is powered by solar and wind. Home cooked meals are supplied and served in the homestead with the family and other guests.
Guests are welcome to become involved with the day to day farm activities of: feeding animals, milking the cow, collecting the eggs and general farm work, or going bush walking on the many trails, spotting the native birds and animals, or just chilling-out with a good book in a peaceful setting.
The main homestead has a very large common room with sunken lounge, pool table and table tennis. The house is bounded by a wide verandah for relaxing and there is basketball hoop and campfire set in the house yard.
Disabled access is available to the ground floor and bathroom of the main homestead.
